To the House...

You'll probably arrive from Cagliari or its Elmas-airport.

Using GoogleMaps, find and follow the Strada Statale 125 for Muravera.
Cross the village and you'll find the SS 387 and the road sign for San Vito.
Next, drive and let yourself be guided by these pictures...

That's it, you're already in SV, you just took a right turn
and you are crossing now an old stone bridge,
go straight ahead...

See the plastic red chairs outside that bar ?

The via Galilei is now in front of you...

On your right hand, the main street, via Nazionale,
in front of you, via Galilei, it's the good one.

# 1 is just up the street on the right side...

Is there a parking space ?

Alas, if you look today for all this lush green thing...
it's all over now !
- "Some like it concrete"
You should have bought that land last year, folks !

Here you are in the old SV area, at 1, via Galiei.
in front of you is the old property's main door...
___

Entry and garden.

Once inside the property, the house is on the left, around the garden.

(On the right hand, the old mill, closed since 1965, and its courtyard).

Step up to the garden...

The House - #1, the oldest part

This is #1 because it is the oldest part of the property (and my preferred one) - say it was
probably built around mid-1800.

Transformed and refurbished several times,
it was originally composed of two
arcade wings (loggiato) at a right angle, with a well in the corner
.

The old home's right wing (right hand in the picture) has unfortunately been
demolished in 1974 and replaced by a
modern house (see #3), according to
the unalterable will
of that time owner (Aunty).

In the eighties, the loggiato, or what was left of it, was closed to become
a living room in winter
and one end was transformed into a kitchen.

Both roofs of the porch and of the attic have been rebuilt in the mid-eighties.

View of the oldest house from the street - here, via Municipio (the city hall),
with the two windows of the attic and the one of the ground floor bedroom.

Let's go inside, now...

The loggiato, originally open, was used for certain activities in the warm
season or simply as a corridor between the different parts of the house
.

Behind the green curtain (above) there is one bedroom (below)...

... with a small window opening on via Municipio.

The bathroom opens next to the bedroom.
(Another bedroom
was part of the granite building and has been sold with it).

The kitchenette opens on the pantry - unchanged, and leads to the attic's
stairway.

In this room Granny used to store the wheels of cheese (it still smells very strong),
piles of melons and watermelons, eggs, vegetables, etc.

Here the kitchenette seen by the attic.

The stairway...

The red door, now doomed, opened on the other wing of the attic... wing demolished
by Aunty
in 1974.

This wing of the attic (like the demolished part was) is composed of two rooms,
separated by a few steps
.

I love the 'parefeuille' floor, I hope the next owner will appreciate and restore it properly!
