The House - #2, the Granite Building

[SOLD - Sept 2011]
Built in 1889, as solid as a fortress, yet
it has nowadays a weakness, its roof.
Never touched since its construction, it gives under the weight of the years
... and cries for help.

The appearance of the property has changed since these pictures...
- The virginia-creeper
heavy curtain and the two huge fig trees have
disappeared
as the strip of land, located along the wall, has been sold,
end of 2009, to the adjoining property and
everything has been torn
to the ground.

Apart from the property's main entry from via Galilei and the door opening on
via
Municipio, another way in is from the garden
...

... from this "garden room", where a little window opens under the entry porch
and another toward the street.

From here, beyond the stairwell, there is another room.

(Under the stairs, 2 small closets)

This room currently communicates with the loggiato and the stairs, and has
a window on via Galilei and a door opening on the
piazza Municipio (below).

The stairwell, now... or where it gets nasty...

Ladies and Gents, let's visit upstairs now... hold tight."Through me you pass into the city of woe:
Through me you pass into eternal pain:
Through me among the people lost for aye.

Justice the founder of my fabric mov'd:
To rear me was the task of power divine,

Supremest wisdom, and primeval love.

Before me things create were none,
Save things
Eternal, and eternal I endure.
All hope abandon ye who enter here."

[Hell, by Dante Alighieri, Cary's Translation]

Scary, uh ? Well, last summer it was worse.
No kidding, if you think this house can make you happy hurry up :
it's cheap
because it needs a new roof !

Up the stairs, on the right, the main bedroom with a window on via Galilei and
a balcony on piazza Municipio.

On the left side, the corridor with another balcony, serves a smaller bedroom,
the bathroom and a big kitchen.

The bathroom, second door on the left and, in front, the kitchen/dining room.

In the last picture : back toward the stairs.
